Dolores Hackett Schumacher of Reno, NV passed peacefully with family on July 18, 2022 due to cancer.
She was the beloved daughter of Ben and Pauline Hackett. She was born and raised in Montana, graduating from Victor High School and Montana State University, school of Nursing in Bozeman, Montana.
Dolores married Jerry Schumacher Nov. 26, 1966. She is survived by Jerry, their two sons, Kurt (daughter in law Megan), Craig, and granddaughters: Camilla, Cecilie, and Isobel. She is survived by her brother Prescott Hackett, sister Barbara Stephani, sisters-in-law Jan Abrams, Joyce Toothman; and lifelong friends Mel and June Miller.
Dolores spent her life helping others as a nurse and volunteering. She first worked in Colorado and San Francisco. After marrying Jerry, she worked in Northern California, moving to Reno in 1976. She was known for being an outstanding nurse and her love for helping with delivery and obstetrics.
She cared passionately for her children, grandchildren and extended family - always welcoming them to visit and taking time to listen and having fun. Dolores had an infectious laugh and smile, bringing joy to those around her.
Later in life, retiring in 2004, she and Jerry would travel extensively to see family, and for pleasure trips to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Aruba, Malta, Egypt and Africa. She was a swimmer/aquaciser working out with friends as well as an avid reader.
Interment and a celebration of life will be held at the Victor, Montana cemetery on Sunday, July 31st at 10:00 am MDT and broadcast / live-streamed at dalyleachchcapel.com. See ‘livestream’ on the upper right corner of their website.
