HAMILTON - Donald A Hutchings was born on January 24th, 1933 in Denison, Texas where attended school and graduated from high school. During the waning years of the Korean Conflict Don enlisted in the navy. During the years of the cold war he was based in Newfoundland and served as a flight engineer. After receiving an honorable discharge, Don attended North Texas State University where he received a bachelor degree. He was active in the Navy Reserves for 32 years and worked for Bell Helicopters for 35 years as an estimator.
Don retired in 1999 and went to work for the summer in Yellowstone National Park and at Old Faithful, where he and Debbie met. Don and Debra were married in 2000. In the years following they enjoyed many trips enjoying the beautiful backroads of Montana and the gift of living in the Bitterroot Valley.
Don was very active with his family and his church. He participated with the Royal Ambassadors working with youth, sang in the choir and went on several mission trips, including to Disaster Recovery trips to Biloxi, Mississippi and Greensburg, Kansas after the tornado there.
He was preceded In death by his parents, 3 brothers and one sister. He is survived his wife, Debra Hutchings, 3 sons, 3 daughters, 17 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
