Faye Louise Burud, 81, of Hamilton, MT passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the Discovery Care Centre. She was born May 7, 1939 in Chokio, MN, the tenth child of Herman and Adah (Thomas) Petersdorf.
Faye was raised in Wilton, MN and Bemidji, MN. She graduated from Bemidji High School in 1958. In March of 1962 she married James Burud. In 1963 their daughter Dani was born, and in 1964 their daughter Karin was born.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband James; her brothers Charlie, Hershel, Willy, Curtis and Ronald; her sisters Louise and Eunice, and her beloved cat Bud.
Faye is survived by her two daughters, Dani (Andrew) Thompson of Bloomington, MN and Karin (Joe) Melnarik of Hamilton, MT. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Brian (Kellie) Thompson of Savage, MN, Nicole (Briana) Zackson of Shakopee, MN, and Charlie, Phillip and Emily Melnarik of Hamilton, MT; two great-grandchildren Chaz and Teagan; and two sisters, Elmeda Neuman and Carol Holm.
Special thanks to the entire staff of Discovery Care Centre for taking care of mom for the past 12 years. Extra special thanks to Georgia Clute for keeping mom's mind and hands busy with crafts and activities and for your friendship. Thanks also to Nicole and Hannah for your kind, compassionate care in the final hours of mom's life.
A private family celebration will take place in Bemidji, MN at a later date.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Bitter Root Humane Association, 262 Fairgrounds Rd., Hamilton, MT 59840.
