Gene L. Sonterre

Hamilton – Gene Sonterre, 77 of Hamilton passed away September 18, 2020 at his home in Hamilton.

Gene was born July 4, 1943 in Anoka, Minnesota to the late Louis and Mary Sonterre.  Gene married Sharon M. Harrier in 1967.  He worked at Honeywell in Minnesota and other odd jobs until he was hired at the maintenance department at Hamilton High School, where he worked until his retirement.  Gene enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards and reading. 

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Todd Sonterre.

Surviving include Sharon, his wife of 53 years; daughter, Michelle (Dan Keith) Sonterre of Hamilton; granddaughter, Hollie (Ryan) Toews  and children of Victor; grandson, Jon Tignor of Chesapeake, VA; brother, Dale (Bernice) Sonterre of Coon Rapids, MN; sisters, Wanda (Chuck) DeMars of Jacobson, MN., Sylvia Kalbow of Cedar, MN and Gloria (Jerry) Putnam of Elk River, MN; various nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Riverside Christian Center.  A potluck reception will follow the service.

The family suggests donations to the funeral home to help pay funeral expenses.
