George passed away peacefully on May 28, 2023 in Reno, NV, at the age of 89.
He was born in Livingston and raised in White Sulphur Springs, Montana on June 29, 1933. He went all though school there, graduating High School in 1951. He married Geraldine (Gerry) Anderson in 1952.
From 1952 to 1956, during the Korean war, he served in the Navy aboard the USS Hancock aircraft carrier. From 1956 to 1960 he went to college at MSU, Bozeman. From 1960 to 1977 he had several lower-level through executive-level occupations, mainly in the aerospace/aviation field, moving all around this country.
In 1977 he and his family returned to Montana, settling in Hamilton. For several years he and Gerry owned a small home decorating store in Hamilton. Gerry passed away in 1983. In 1990 he married Sharon. From around 1984 until finally retiring in about 2010, he kept busy with a few occupations, mainly selling print advertising in the Hamilton area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Lena Holmes and his wife Gerry. He is survived by Sharon of Corvallis, sons Doug of Sparks, NV, David of Reno, NV and many relatives spread throughout Montana and beyond. He made many great friends in the Bitterroot and everywhere he was. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, fishing and the outdoors in general. George will be sorely missed by his loving family and everyone who knew him.
