James Zaccanti passed away on September 26, 2021 surrounded by friends at Marcus Daly Hospital.
Jim was born in 1938 and grew up in Redwood City, CA. He served in the Air Force and then worked as a Cement Mason, repairing the Golden Gate Bridge, buildings at Stanford University, and projects in Guam, to name just a few. In 1995, he and his wife, Judy, moved to Darby. He was active in Newcomers, Bitterrodders Car Club, Supper Clubs, and supported Judy's P.E.O. chapter as a BIL. Many people knew him because of his work at The Bitterroot Disposal Transfer Station, People's Market and his service volunteering at the Darby food pantry. He had a fun sense of humor and connected with people quickly. Jim was an avid gardener and animal-lover, who enjoyed many pet llamas over the years. You may have seen him driving his bright yellow 1953 Ford F100 truck around the valley.
He is survived by his wife Judy Zaccanti, son and daughter-in-law Blake and Dominique Zaccanti, and sister and brother-in-law Del and Ron Ipsen. He is beloved by eight nieces and nephews, and dozens of great and great-great nieces and nephews who affectionately call him "Coocoo."
A private service will be held for family and friends.
