Jean B. Mavros

Jean Bernice Mavros, 86 passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at the Bitterroot Health Daly Hospital in Hamilton.

Jean was born in Roundup, Montana on February 20, 1937 to Ruby and Henry Nichols. They later divorced and her mother married Louie Raggl who lived on the Crow Indian Reservation about 50 miles from Billings.  They went to school in Pryor on the reservation and moved to different places over the winter so they could attend school. The home was outside of Pryor about 8 miles would get snowed in during the winter so they had to moved closer to town so the kids could attend school. She graduated High School in Edgar in 1955, and then moved to Hamilton where she stayed with her grandparents until she got a job as a nurse’s aide in the Old Marcus Daly Hospital. She worked at the hospital for three years until she and her husband moved to Libby for a month or so. He was drafted into the military in March the following year. While he was in the military she moved back to Hamilton and worked in the old Coffee Cup Café and then in Dr. Meis’s office. She quit working when her husband came back from Korea, and they raised their 7 children in Corvallis. The couple later divorced. After her children were grown, she went to work as a housekeeper. 

Jean has been an active member of the Church of God most of the years of her married life and ever since. Her children and family were very important to her as well as her church family.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, brother and sons, Dan, Tim and Joe and daughter, Rosalie.

She is survived by her sons, Jamie Mavros of Victor, Robin Mavros of Darby, David Mavros of Hamilton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Daisy and Kathy (Mike); brother Louie.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Daly-Leach Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton with Pastor Reggie Stegmeier officiating. Interment will follow at Corvallis Cemetery. Condolence may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com
