VICTOR - Joseph Daniel “Dan” Oberle, 67, of Victor, Montana passed away at Community Medical Center on May 4th from complications of heart failure.
Dan was born October 22, 1954, in Pekin, Illinois, to John and Shirley (Kinczewski) Oberle. He graduated from Pekin Community High School, in 1972, and immediately went into the work force. A man of many trades: from working for the Illinois Department of Transportation as a bridge tender, an iron worker, guiding hunting clients in the mountains of Idaho, hauling logs throughout the Pacific Northwest, to driving many commercial miles as an owner/operator across the nation while making many friends along the way.
Dan had a passion for all things outdoor. He spent much of his life camping under the big sky, hunting big game, fishing in his favorite spots, or hiding in a duck blind with his brother, Tim. In 2011, he received his private pilot’s license and purchased his first of many airplanes. In his down time, he enjoyed taking his dear friend and “navigator”, the late Dwane Clarke, throughout the skies of Montana. He was looking forward to this fall, when his daughter received her pilot’s license and they could co-pilot together. Dan had an unwavering loyalty to his companion dog, Jep, who saw many sunrises and sunsets together in the cab of his 18-wheeler.
Dan is survived by his daughter, Taylor McKinley of Victor; brothers, Tim (Anna) Oberle of Phoenix, Arizona and Jim Oberle of Whitewater, Wisconsin; niece, Danielle; nephew, Josh; longtime friends, Jeff Schmitt of Deer Lodge, Dan McGuire of Opportunity, Robert Thurman of Victor, Rod and Debbie Clarke of Victor, along with many more friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Oberle and Shirley Oberle Bayre.
A BBQ Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., in the Clarke residence in Victor, for those who wish to attend. A scattering of ashes will take place in the Selway at a later date. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com
