Kenneth Brassfield Obituary

CORVALLIS - On January 18, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., Kenneth C. Brassfield, 80, of Corvallis, MT, went home to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ.

Ken was born February 17, 1942, New Underwood, SD the first son of the late Thomas A. Brassfield and Erma M. (Mihills) Brassfield.

In 1959, Ken and his family moved to West Plains, MO.  Ken and Marie met while attending Pomona Christian Church.

August 1960, Ken joined the U.S. Army.  He trained to be an engineer at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  Ken was sent to Germany during the Berlin Missile Crisis where they trained him as a nuclear warhead technician.

In December of 1961, Ken came home from Germany and married Marie L. Gastineau on December 16, 1961.  Ken and Marie then moved to Germany in January of 1962.  Out of this beautiful union of marriage arrived two sons and two daughters.

After Ken was honorably discharged in August 1963, they moved back to Missouri. He became a carpenter with his dad and built beautiful homes and restaurants in Southern Missouri. For 45 years, he was the finest craftsman.

Ken was a very special man; truly a real peacemaker, always making people smile.  He loved being an Elder and Sunday School teacher for many years.

Ken and Marie managed a large hotel for 7 years also. Most of all, Ken was the best husband to Marie. They just celebrated 61 years of marriage. He was the greatest dad and grandpa ever and he will be missed by all his family and friends.

Ken is preceded in death by his first son, Nickolas T. Brassfield; granddaughter, Megan R. Collins; both of Corvallis, MT.

Ken is survived by his wife, Marie; son, Craig A. Brassfield of Willow Springs, MO; daughters, Regina R. (Brassfield) Kuhrt and DeeAnn A. (Brassfield) Sears and husband John Sears, of Fredonia, KS.  He was the proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren and great-grandfather of 5.   Ken is also survived by 3 brothers, Leon (Freda), Bill, and Cecil (Peggy) Brassfield; 5 sisters, Linda (Dave) Poppitz, Valerie (Dennis) Bartlett, Roberta (Ron) Weldy, Dian Perkins, and Tammy (Craig) Thacker; and many nieces and nephews.
