VICTOR - Kenneth Stricklin, 82, passed away peacefully at home and into the presence of his Lord and Savior, May 12, 2022. Born in Pryor, OK, he was the son of the late Harry and Emeline Stricklin.
While always faulting on the side of unassuming, Ken had a remarkable career in the U.S. Civil Service. He initially worked in the U.S. Post Office, and upon graduating from Oklahoma State University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, he briefly worked reporting U.S. Market News. Rising by position, at the time of his retirement in 1995, he held the title of Director of the Packer and Poultry Division of the Packers and Stockyards Administration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Like many of his generation, Ken was a fan of hard work, and retirement led him back to his midwestern roots. He and his beloved wife, Lee, owned and operated a cattle ranch in the Ozark region of south-central Missouri for a number of years before finally settling in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana in 2003.
Ken and Lee shared a love of hiking the beautiful outdoors, western living, western music, and traveling with friends on bus tours and cruises. But their greatest passions were shared faith in Jesus and family. His was a lifetime of steadfast faith in the Bible’s declaration of the gospel. On that truth he lived and died, resting in the confidence of a promise-keeping God. He was beyond proud of their children and grandchildren, and singularly impacted by living to witness the birth of two great-grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his wife, Lee Ann; their three children: Mark (Teresa) of Hamilton, MT, Todd (Maureen) of Williamsville, VT, and Angie (Jim) Ferrar of Telluride, CO. He also leaves his legacy through grandchildren: Trevor (Christa) of Jamestown, RI, Katie of Cary, NC, Torrey (Shelby) of Cleveland, TN, and Alexandria who passed to heaven in 2014, and was there to welcome “grandpa.” His two great-grandchildren are Clayton and Mia Alexandria, children of Torrey and Shelby.
Ken and Lee have long been in awe and supported the ministries of Samaritan Purse both financially and in prayer. The Stricklin family would like to express special appreciation to Partners in Home Care, Missoula, MT for the exceptional care and empathy they offered alongside our family in the final days of Ken’s earthly life.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Daly-Leach Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC, 28607. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com
