Larry Anderson Obituary

Corvallis - Larry M. Anderson of Corvallis Montana joined his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 3, 2021. Larry was born in Des Moines, Iowa April 27, 1935 the son of the late John Russell and Eva Marie Huddle Anderson.  He attended Lincoln High School, served in the Iowa Army National Guard and attended the University of Iowa. He ran his own State Farm agency in Des Moines for over 30 years serving many clients and forging numerous friendships.  Larry was a devoted father to Dale and Laurie sharing his love of the outdoors on multiple trips ‘out west’ where they both live today.

Larry’s mother Eva was a natural musician and helped instill a love for classical music in her son along with some of her talent.  He almost always had a piano or organ in his home to play a little tune if not listening to music from around the world.  After retiring from the insurance business, he made the move west to Arizona and Colorado. During this time he cared for his mother in her later years, ensuring she was always with family.  In 1999 Larry moved to the Bitterroot Valley with his wife Cathryn and embraced the Montana lifestyle, a natural for him.  For the past 6 years he worked at the Ravalli County Museum where he greeted guests and helped where ever needed.  Larry loved meeting new people, learning about them and sharing about the museum and a bit about himself.  He considered this both a joy and a blessing. Another blessing over the years were his canine friends. He provided a loving home to several rescues and maybe spoiled them just a bit.

Larry’s most precious passion was his devotion to Jesus Christ, serving the Lord in many capacities in the church. While in Colorado Larry was involved with Prison Fellowship where he met with those incarcerated sharing the Gospel and giving hope. Following a special friendship with Reverend Mychal Massie, Larry would have enjoyed being remembered alongside Walter E. Williams in Massie’s blog, The Daily Rant.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Max Anderson and sister Marilyn MacAllister.  He is survived by his wife Cathryn, daughter Laurie Cunningham (Bob), son Dale Anderson (Catherine), 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
