Pinesdale - Lyman Dee Jessop’s first move was on October 1, 1937.
He surrendered his King in check mate on March 19, 2020.
Lyman Dee was born to Joseph Lyman Jessop and Maleta Porter in Salt Lake City. He lived the wonderful life of a poor kid in a huge family in Utah. His love of learning led him to become a graduate of the University of Utah in 1960, and so became a life-long Ute. In 1969, he moved to Montana and became the principal of Pines Academy and served in that capacity for 50 years until retirement. He earned his Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Montana in 1986, and officially became a Grizzly. He taught hundreds of students and influenced thousands. He dedicated his life to service. He dearly loved his family, games of chess, fishing in the Big Hole, telling campfire stories, keeping his own stats at basketball games, watching his kids and grandkids participate in sports, and serving the community of Pinesdale. He is survived by a whole mob of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for Lyman Dee at www.dalyleachchapel.com. Any donations will be contributed to the Lyman D. Jessop Memorial Scholarship fund.
