Mannon Wallace Obituary

Please join us as we celebrate the life of Rev. Mannon Wallace, at Riverside Cemetery on Saturday, July 27th, at 2:00 pm.

Rev. Wallace was born and raised in McKinney, TX. He joined the army and was stationed at Ft. Bliss, El Paso, TX where he surrendered his life to the ministry of the Lord, and where he also met and married his wife, Helen. They went on to have five children.

Mannon started his ministry in Canutillo, Texas, then went on to minister in Mandan, North Dakota; Cheyenne, Wyoming; Crescent City, California; Three Rivers, California; Corcoran, California; and as Chaplain for the Tulare Correctional facilities. But the biggest portion of his ministry was spent in Hamilton, Montana.

Arriving in Hamilton in 1966, Pastor Wallace oversaw the growth of what began as Hamilton Baptist Church, which consisted of a few dedicated families, into a thriving church that ministered to the community with a bus program and many other outreach programs. The church became First Baptist Church in the 1970’s (which is now known as “River” church, Cooper and Lewis lanes) and was expanded several times to accommodate the growth. Pastor Wallace stayed in Hamilton until 1980, and claimed that his time in Hamilton was the most rewarding time of his ministry.

Pastor Wallace was a consummate student and attended Texas Western College, and International Bible Institute and Seminary, earning a Doctorate in Religious Philosophy. He had many hobbies, including coin collection, military history, woodworking, reading, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his five children: Tina Yentzer, Dawn Richard, Heather Green, Mannon Lee Wallace, Jr., and Mark Wallace, and by 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Pastor Wallace was called home on February 12, 2019.

The graveside service will be casual as we celebrate his homecoming.
