Margee Mason Obituary

CORVALLIS – Margee Mason, 80, of Corvallis passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula due to complications from a stroke.  She was born April 6, 1943 in Hamilton the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Hilgren) Barker.

Margee was raised and educated in Hamiton, graduating from Hamilton High School in 1961.  After high school, she left the Bitterroot Valley for many years before returning in 1979.  Upon moving home, Margee was reacquainted with Gary Mason and they married on June 18, 1979. 

After attending many auctions, Margee went to the Western College of Auctioneering in Billings in the 80’s.  Margee and Gary owned Mason Marketing Services for a number of years and they enjoyed all the social interactions and the travel that came with this new career.  They owned and operated this business until they both retired in 2009.

Margee’s many hobbies included China painting.  For many years she hand painted Christmas ornaments for her children and grandchildren.  She also painted a complete set of China for each of her 6 children.  Margee also loved fishing and attending family reunions with Gary all over the United States.  She was a talented vocalist and enjoyed singing in church. 

Margee was a member of Montana China Painting Art Association, Rotary International, the Corvallis Community Church and the Montana Auctioneer’s Association. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary; 2 sisters, Virginia Raymond and Lorraine Fries; and her nephew, Nick Barker.  Margee’s surviving family includes her children, Carrie (Travis) Van Dyke, Chad Wilson, Carl (Deb) Mason, Doug (Rita) Mason, Teresa (Greg) Stephens and Tracy (Angie) Mason; 2 brothers, Robert (Robin) Barker and Ronald (Joanna) Barker; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Daly-Leach Chapel with a reception following in the funeral home’s community room.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
