CORVALLIS - Mary Jane Bumgarner, surrounded by loved ones, passed away peacefully at home Thursday afternoon, July 15th, 2021. Apparently she couldn’t let Dad have all of the spotlight. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that they would go together in death, as they always were together in life.
She was born in American Fork, Utah on March 29th, 1946, to parents Max Agrippa Nielsen and Leah A. Boulter. She attended Corvallis High School before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Larry Wayne Bumgarner. They were married in Idaho on November 20th, 1963.
Mary Jane spent her entire life dedicated to the raising of six children, in addition to working many years in the Corvallis school system in the lunch programs. What she did so well was to set a shining example to her children of what it meant to be kind, sweet and considerate.
She was preceded in death by her father, Max; mother, Leah; brothers, Nile and Doug. Mary Jane is survived by her sister, Judy; her children, Timothy Wayne, Larry Dean, Daniel Wade, Derek James, Heather Dawn and Thaddeus Allen; in addition to grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
I don’t think anyone that knew her will truly understand how much pain she faced and suffered daily throughout her life, yet she faced it with a smile and an “I’m fine” whenever asked how she was doing. She was truly an amazing example of perseverance in the face of adversity.
Visitation will be held at the Corvallis Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 10:00 am with the funeral service following at 11:00 am, also at the Corvallis LDS Church. After the services, internment for Larry will be at the Hamilton Riverview Cemetery. Friends and family are welcomed to a luncheon back at the Corvallis LDS Church to reminisce and celebrate the life of a great family man and amazing mother and wife. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
