Mildred "Millie" Taylor-Williams Obituary

Mildred L. Taylor-Williams passed away peacefully Friday October 28, 2022 at her residence at the Remington surrounded by loved ones.

She was born Mildred Louise Henry on August 24, 1924 in Musselshell Montana to William and Gladys Henry. Her early years were spent on the family ranch. Then the family moved to Sandpoint Idaho where her father passed away. The family then moved to the Florence Montana area where her mother cooked and was housekeeper on an area sheep ranch allowing for a stable upbringing for Millie and her sisters and brothers. Millie attended Florence-Carlton school for her early education and then Missoula County High School.

Mildred met Courtney L. Taylor Jr while on a double date. Courtney was drafted on October 7, 1941 in the cadet program to become a pilot. While home on leave Millie and Courtney eloped on April 23, 1942 and kept their marriage a secret for several months. Millie then followed her husband from Nevada to California as he trained pilots for action in World War II.

After the war Millie and family returned to Missoula where Courtney attended the University. Then in 1952 after Courtney was employed by the Montana Fish and Game, the family moved to the Bitterroot. Courtney and Millie remained in Hamilton and raised their family. Millie was a stay at home housewife and mother to six children. She was a member of the Rebekah, Charity #11 women's unit of Odd Fellows, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Millie lost her husband Courtney on September 4, 1997. After twelve years alone, Mildred re-connected with friend and brother-in-law Lawrence Williams. They were married on December 13, 2009. Larry preceded Millie in death on October 29, 2016.

Also preceding Mildred in death was son Brian Taylor, granddaughter Carrie Halverson, one sister, two brothers and numerous other relatives. Surviving Mildred is sister Ruth Ford of Missoula MT., and her children: Connie L. Harwood of Missoula MT., Jean M. Brennen of Victor MT., Courtney (Nedra) Taylor of Corvallis, MT., Kathy Troester of Frenchtown MT, daughter-in-law Betty Taylor of Plains MT., and Rick (Kristen) Taylor of Missoula MT.
