Myrna Wolf, 90, passed away September 11, 2020 in Hamilton, MT. She was born September 23, 1929 and raised in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Austin High School in 1947 and attended The College of Mines for a short time. Myrna married Karl Wolf on April, 18, 1948, raised 4 children and has 11 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in El Paso, TX and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Hamilton, MT.
After her husband’s passing, she worked as a bookkeeper, clerk, and secretary in many civil service positions and the El Paso Post Office until she retired.
In El Paso, Myrna served in many capacities for the Trans-Mountain Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association and their Woman of the Year in 1978. She was a member of the Eastwood Toastmasters and the Southern Federation of Syrian Lebanese American Clubs.
After retiring, Myrna volunteered at the Del Sol East Hospital, and Colombia Medical Center Auxiliaries, the El Paso Lighthouse, Crisis Hot Line, the El Paso Humane Society and was a docent at the El Paso Zoo.
After moving to Montana, in 2006 Myrna joined RSVP, The Son’s of Norway and The Knotty Knitters Guild. She was a Lifetime Member of Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Myrna helped make quilts at Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed working in the The Bitterroot Chamber Commerce Office and at The Brew Fest pizza booth. In 2012 she received the Presidents Volunteer Service Award and in 2018 The Chamber’s Unsung Hero Award.
Myrna loved to dance and taught all her children to Jitterbug in front of the TV watching American Bandstand on Saturday mornings. She loved to challenge you to a game of 10,000 in person or over the phone for a quarter a game.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and W.D. “King” Richards; husband, Karl Wolf; brother, David Richards; son, Kenneth Wolf; and grandson, Alan Jacobs. Survivors include daughters, Karla Niemi (Ralph), and Anna O’Neill (Mark) and son, Kris Wolf; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Our family is thankful for all who cared for Myrna over the last few years especially those at The Remington in Hamilton, MT. A celebration of life will be held in El Paso at a later date.
