Pershing Parker was born on September 13, 1936 in Glassborough, New Jersey and entered eternal life on September 29, 2023.
He attended Eastern Nazarene College in Wollaston, MA where he met his wife Muriel. He studied at Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Divinity. After being ordained, he was a pastor at Convene Community Church in Sebago, ME; and then Goffstown and Grasmere Methodist Churches in New Hampshire. He received his Master’s degree in Divinity and taught religious studies for a year in a local college in Philadelphia. From there, he moved to Groton, CT and then the Hartford area where he worked in Information Technology at the Hartford Insurance Group where he retired after 30 years. At that point he wanted to return to ministry, and he became Associate Minister at First Church of Christ in Wethersfield, CT. He served there for 18 years and then retired and moved to Hamilton, MT to be near his son Tom and his family. He served as associate Pastor at Corvallis United Methodist Church. He liked to hike, backpack, and whitewater canoe. He also enjoyed reading and ultimately wrote and published a book.
He is survived by wife Muriel, son Tom (Lauren) and daughter Wendy, and six grandchildren Sam, Becca, Matt, Zachary, Dennis, and Xavier.
