Richard Barta Obituary

Richard A. Barta, 73 of Hamilton passed away June 10, 2021 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

He was born April 28, 1948, in Missoula to the late Robert Joseph and Mary Opal Johnson Barta.  Richard graduated from Sentinel High School. On May 16, 1970, Richard married Deloris June Barta.

He served 4 tours in Vietnam as a river rat for a total of 23 ½ years in the Navy. 

Richard was a member of the VA, VFW and was involved in various veteran’s groups.  He was also active in the Church of the Nazarene.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and spending time with is grandchildren and caring for his loving wife Deloris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Karla, brother David and wife Deloris.

Richard is survived by his sister, Helen Shaw of Georgia; son, David (Danyel) Barta of Hamilton, MT; grandchildren, Zach Brown of Dillon, MT, Brendon Brown of Kalispell, Waylon Barta of Wibaux, Madison Barta of Wibaux and Karla Barta of Hamilton.

Urn placement will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021 at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Missoula with military honors presented by the U.S. Navy and the Corvallis American Legion, Post 91.

A celebration of life service will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31st at the Neely Center in Victor.
