Richard Milstead Obituary

HAMILTON – Richard Eugene Milstead left this world on Sunday, May 29, 2022 and entered into eternity with his Lord and with those who went before him, including his parents, John and Lilian Milstead; and his brother, Greg.  He will be sorely missed by those he left behind in this world for now.  Among those are his wife, Kim; his 2 children, Wandee and Isaac Milstead and their brother, Michael Rasmussen; his 2 step-children, Nathan and Alissa McLaughlin; his grandchildren, Che Roussell, Eon Thorne, Toscana Ruffatto, Asher Milstead and Noah Milstead; his sisters, Laura (Chris) Alexander and Holly (Jeff) Herring; and numerous other relatives and friends.  Rick was born in Bloomington, IL on September 19, 1949.

Rick’s biggest passion was to Love the Lord and Love People.  He enjoyed being around people of all kinds.  Rick had a great sense of humor and always had a quick come back.  He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1967 and after one semester at the University of Montana he joined the U.S. Air Force.  He was stationed in Thailand where he worked on the instrument systems in aircraft during the Vietnam War.  Rick was honorably discharged in 1972.  He loved his country and his flag.

Rick held positions at the Ravalli Republic Newspaper in Hamilton and Printlink in Helena.  He was a certified airplane mechanic in Great Falls and worked at the airport there for a while.  Rick attended YWAM Bible School in Hawaii and he was also licensed as a Master Plumber.

Rick used his many skills to build the home he lived in with Kim.  He spent many hours at the airport in his hanger tinkering with his airplane.  Rick and Kim enjoyed flying around Western Montana and stopping at the small towns for a quick lunch.  They also enjoyed flying into the Selway to Moose Creek and camping overnight.  He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and the American Legion for many years.  Rick also enjoyed traveling, fishing, sports, singing and playing many different instruments.  He was a member of the Hamilton Assembly of God Church where served as a Sunday School Teacher, Royal Ranger Leader, home group leader, Deacon, Elder and Greeter.  Rick was also a volunteer Ravalli County Sheriff’s Deputy.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Assembly of God Church in Hamilton on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11:00 am with a reception following at the church.  The family suggests that memorials be made in Rick’s name to the Bitterroot Daly Hospice Endowment Fund, 1200 Westwood Dr., Hamilton, MT  59840.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
