Rosemarie Pena DeKay, 76, of Corvallis, Montana went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 30, 2022 surrounded by those she loved the most.
On August 29th 1946, in Crystal City, Texas, Rosemarie was born to Arturo and Manuela Pena. Within the first year of her life, her family moved to Gilroy, California where she later graduated from Gilroy Union High School in June 0f 1964.
In 1974, Rosemarie had fraternal twins, Zachary and Liza. After raising her children in California and mostly Nevada, she found her forever home in Corvallis, Montana.
Rose was a dedicated Grandma and number one fan to two granddaughters, Olivia and Tianna Schwend. She was always involved in any hobby or activity the girls expressed interest in.
After retiring from Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital, Rose enjoyed spontaneous adventures, photography, kayaking, dancing, and most importantly, spending time with family, friends and her companion Phil.
Rosemarie is preceded in death by her parents, Arturo and Manuela Pena; brothers, Arturo Pena Jr. and Herman (Irene) Pena; and her younger sister, Adeline Rivera.
She is survived by her son, Zachary DeKay; daughter, Liza (Jason) Schwend; granddaughters, Olivia Schwend and Tianna Schwend; sisters, Blanca Vera, Rosentina Pena, Elizabeth Pena; brothers, Armando (Linda) Pena, Richard (Pam) Pena; and numerous nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
Rose’s celebration of life will be held at Roots Church in Victor, Montana on Monday October 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Per Rose’s request she asked that everyone wear bright colors or a Hawaiian shirt, no black.
In lieu of flowers, Rose had requested that memorials be made to the nonprofit organization, Loads of Dignity, 115 Pine St., Hamilton, MT 59840.
