Wallace Alan Tucker was born October 7, 1930 in Missoula to James P. and Edna Frances Henrietta (Hollensteiner) Tucker, and graduated to his heavenly home on February 5, 2021. In 1921 his parents moved to Lolo and bought the family ranch on Mormon Creek at the base of Lolo Peak. Life growing up on the ranch was not always easy. His dad was a great horseman and raised Percheron draft horses, and mowing hay with the horses was what Dad liked to do best. He attended Woodman School, graduated from Missoula County High School, and attended Montana State College in Bozeman (MSU) where he studied Agriculture.
On August 9, 1952 Wally married Donna M. Richardson. They lived and worked on the family ranch in Lolo for a time, after which he worked in logging for several years before taking a job at Hoerner-Waldorf paper mill (later to become Smurfit-Stone Container) in 1960 from which he retired after many years as an electrician. They enjoyed living and raising their kids at their home in the Evaro area. Donna passed away in 1978.
On March 7, 1980 Wally married Ruth M. Rankin. Dad loved the sunshine, and for a period of five years he and Ruth lived in Moab, Utah before returning to Montana. Ruth passed away in 2008.
Wally married Jeannette Studer on November 16, 2013. They split their time between her home in Walla Walla, Washington and his beloved Montana home in “the pasture.”
Dad had a passion for the Lord and for his faith. For many years he led youth groups, home Bible studies and pastored itinerantly and at Ninemile Community Church. He could quote an unbelievable amount of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation—in the Old King James, of course. He never hesitated to share his faith with anyone who would listen.
A favorite pastime of Dad’s was hunting with his sons, grandsons, and his Charlie Company friends. He was a great storyteller and loved nothing better than to spend time with his family. Even at 90 years old he still remained active and continued to mow his lawn and fill his bird feeders. He will be greatly missed.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Aurel, James and Gerold Tucker, sisters Helen (Tuck) Rigg and Jean Stephens, wives Donna Richardson Tucker and Ruth Rankin Tucker, sons Mark and Scott, and grandson Dylan Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannette; daughters LaRae (Dave) Glessner, Larrie Ann Larsen, and Diane (Allen) Tucker Lake; sons Ron (Lisa) Tucker and Steve (Lynn) Tucker; grandchildren RaeAnn (Brad) Nye, Jeff (Anna) Glessner, Doni (Jon) Scofield, Josh (Tabitha) Larsen, Luke Larsen, Devin (Aimee) Lake, Lana Lake, Arran Lake, Hope Tucker, Madi Tucker, Jaxon Tucker, and Braydon Tucker; 9 great grandchildren; numerous step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held February 20th, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Daly Leach Memorial Chapel in Hamilton, Montana.
