Willard Gentry Obituary

     Willard S. Gentry of Hamilton passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 9, 1929 in West Blocton, Alabama, the son of the late Walter and Estelle Gentry.

     Will was raised and graduated high school in West Blocton where he was captain of the high school football team.  He served in the USAF for 23 years and was a veteran of the Korean War with the 36th fighter bomber squadron.  On April 22, 1968 he married D. Ann Jeffery in Tacoma, WA.  He worked management at K-Mart for 20 years in Tempe, AZ. He retired and moved to Montana where he enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his dogs. Will enjoyed his travel to South Africa with his wife and daughter. Will volunteered for Hospice and Meals on Wheels and cared very much about others. He had an endearing personality, loved to sing and had an infectious sense of humor. He was loved by everyone.

     Will is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann of Hamilton; four daughters: Evon Young of Tye, TX, Debbie Douglas of Moor Park, CA, Jennifer Smith (Brant) of Prescott, AZ and Shelley Laine (Pete) of Victor, MT; three sons: David O’Shea of San Diego, CA, Greg Hofmann of Las Vegas, NV and Glen Hofmann of Las Vegas, NV; one brother Norman Gentry of Carson City, NV, his nephew Walt Gentry of Markleeville, CA and niece Elaine Marriott (Larry) of Carson City, NV. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

     Will is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Estelle Gentry and children Ronald Gentry and Bonnie Brown; two brothers: John Kelly Gentry and Joe Gentry; one sister Jean Cox; and one great grandson Luke Byron Flint.

     A memorial service will be held later this summer; to be announced.
