 Kenneth “Lance” Dowdy, 49, of Stevensville passed away Aug. 17, 2016 due to complications from an extended illness. Lance was born April 26, 1967 in Centralia, Washington to Shirley Stromme Dowdy and Bryan Dilworth. He was later adopted by Nathan Dowdy, who raised him as his own.

Educated in the Darby school systems and graduating in 1986, Lance participated in football and wrestling from junior high through high school. Upon graduation he attended BYU Idaho and served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the California Arcadia Mission.

Lance went to tech school in the emerging field of fiber optics. He spent the next 20 years working in the field of telecommunications traveling the nation. Lance had many accomplishments throughout his life, but his greatest was being called “Uncle.” There simply was none better.

Lance was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Kenneth “June” Stromme and Dorothy Stromme, paternal grandparents Stan and Ann Dilworth, and George William Neal and his cousin Miranda House.

Lance leaves behind his loving family, parents, Shirley Dowdy of Hamilton; Nathan (Janet) Dowdy of Hamilton, Bryan (Kelly) Dilworth of Hailey, Idaho; Siblings, David and Kyla Dowdy child Keyera “June” of Stevensville, Amy and Glen Frost children Zel, Kenzi and Treyzen of Stevensville, Greg and Maureen Dowdy children Taylor, Nathan and Avery of Hamilton, and Tami and Olin Yingling children Jessica (Steven) Cain, Brittany, Bradley and Aleisha of Orlando, Florida, Melissa, Annie, Thomas, Emily and Robert Dowdy of Hamilton; Numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends who were dear to him.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016 at 4 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hamilton with a reception to follow. Memorials can be sent to the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
