I met Ernie in 1984 when I transferred in from Central. I worked with him from time to time on the "The Rock" when he was the SLO on 16A89. He was fun to work with and one of the good guys. I called him "Uncle Ernie" because he was 16 years my senior. He will be missed by all who knew him. KMA my friend.

Ernie was my first training officer, up on The Rock, in 1974. He was a hard working officer who loved his family and the job. I looked forward to working with Ernie because I knew we were always going to have fun that day. I am glad I got to see him again many years later at some of the retirees luncheons and re-live some of those fun times.

Ernie, you were truly a man.

Requiescat in Pace.

Maria, there is no "substitute" for Ernie. He was a quiet, smiling gentleman---a perfect role-model for the high school students he influenced in the classrooms and hallways of Hamilton High School. I am blessed to have known him.

So sad to hear of Ernie's passing. Ernie and I worked the "ROCK" car together for a long time: he was a pleasure to work with. Ernie was always calm and level headed. He was firm, but always fair, showing respect to everyone. I will miss you, old friend. Rest in peace. KMA367.

I was saddened to hear of Ernie's passing. Although we were never partners, I did work around Ernie while serving at Foothill Division with the LAPD. He was a good man. Always had a smile. Always had time to stop and chat. He was a fixture.
May he rest in peace.

It is with heavy heart that I write about a guy that I enjoyed working with and could call him my friend. "Ernie" and I worked the "Rock" car for a long time. I hated the area but working with Ernie made it all worthwhile. Ernie never seemed to get upset and paced things at his speed. Ernie and I had many laughs together and there are many stories that he and I will remember forever. "Ernie" you were a good guy and will be missed. I am so happy that I was able to see you at the last Foothill reunion. May you rest in peace my brother. You did society good and you touched many people. May the Lord look after your family and bring them peace. David Alfred retired.

He was my training officer in 1983 as a young rookie. He was a kind and very patient man. He taught me a lot and I enjoyed being mentored by him. God rest his soul and my peace be with him.

I was saddened to read that Ernie had passed away. Ernie worked for me at Foothill Patrol Division in the early 1980's - a good cop - a hard worker and professional, and always a friendly chap. I'd seen him recently at our retiree's gatherings in Canyon Country, CA. I'll miss his presence there. DAVE

Ernie... You were a good partner when I worked with you at Foothill Division. But even being better than a good partner, you were a great personal friend. We shared a lot of laughs working together. You will be missed by many. Heaven is a better place now that you've joined the ranks of all of our Brothers in Blue that have gone on before you. Rest in eternal peace my friend.

I did not know Ernest personally but he was LAPD Blue and he will be missed. I pray the Lord will comfort you during your grieving. HE is the Living Hope that gets us through our sorrow.

32 years ago you were my training officer at Foothill division. You were one of the best LAPD officers I worked with. You taught me to be the best person as a LAPD officer, you will never be forgotten, and you will be missed. RIP

Ernie....you were a great training officer and had plenty of patience for this young rookie 32 years ago. A decent man, who understood what it was to be a police officer. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

Rest in Peace Ernie. You were one of my first and always favorite training officer. I appreciate everything that you did for me in Foothill Division, back in 1974. I always enjoyed your visits to my restaurant (Route 66 Classic Grill), following my retirement. To your family, you might be gone, but never forgotten...
