We feel so fortunate to have known Jean, though for a short time, during our "trip of a life time" with her and Russ in Peru. Her sunny smile and welcoming manner will remain with us always. I will always remember Jean at Chapter 1 bookstore being so helpful and kind to teenage folks like myself (1990s). I also have fond memories of her playing flute at our wedding in 2007. Your relationship of 40 years and community involvement are something to admire and look up to. Rest in peace; we have sweet memories of you. Love, Corey and Shanna Herrick

On Christmas Eve, I have been invited to play my flute for an afternoon gathering, at which there will also be a vocalist and piano accompaniment. After having spent so many happy hours playing the flute with Jean when I lived in Hamilton, you can be sure that she will be on my mind and in my memory each time I play. Jean contributed so much to the community - I am honored to have been her friend.

I'm sorry that I did not get to know Jean better, but Russ I will work on that part going forward. All I saw from the pictures and FB posts is her energy and love of life. I don't know about her music that I just saw on a post. I know very little about the both of you. But I do know that Chapter One is one of the most cherished places that I go to to this day, and it is always the first stop for my kids to this day.
I would like to make a small contribution either to Chapter One or the Literacy Bitterroot program. I will be out after Christmas through mid January.
