DARBY - Kevin Jim Hatch, age 63, of Darby, Montana passed away on December 5, 2016 at his son’s residence in Hamilton, Montana after a long, courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Darby Clubhouse. Following Services a luncheon will be provided by the LDS Relief Society.

Kevin was born on September 28, 1953 to Reid M. and Marie V. (Boulter) Hatch in American Fork, Utah. He was the sixth of eight children, blessed into the household.  After living in Utah, the family decided to move to the Bitterroot Valley, to pursue other opportunities, just before his third birthday. He grew up learning to farm, the care of the harvest and an instilled work ethic.

Kevin attended Darby Elementary and then Darby High School, graduating with the class of 1971.

Kevin found a girl he loved, and was united in marriage with Susan Zeiler on December 18, 1976 in Hamilton. They started a family and dreams with Tara Jo, David John, Lara Elizabeth and Erin Amy. The couple moved a few times and eventually built the home of their dreams.

Kevin always had a value of family first. He loved, played, protected and worked more than one job at a time. He was a logger for many years, jack-of-all trades for Triple Creek Guest Ranch and retired from the Ravalli County Road Department after thirty years of service.

Kevin is preceded in death by his parents, Reid and Marie; his sister, Doris (Bud) Deveraux; his brothers, Jim, David and John Hatch and an infant grandson Gabriel.

Kevin is survived by his children, Tara (Lynn) Kula, Dave (Breanna) Hatch, Lara Hatch and Erin Hatch; his grandchildren, Dante Hatch and Sicily Kula; his wife, Susan Hatch; his sister, Reida (Larry) Millage and Colleen (Neldon) Hansen; his brother, Alan (Lenore) Hatch as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of those that helped Kevin in his time of need. A special thank you to Matt Bierer, Heather  Appel and Jani Albans.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Home Health and Hospice at homehealthofmontana.com or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at donors@stjude.org.
