Hamilton - Muriel Genevieve Treece fell asleep in death peacefully at Marcus Daly Hospital Hospice, Hamilton, Montana on September 28, 2015.   She was 93 years-old.

Muriel was born to Martin and Martha (Wittke) Larson on June 21, 1922, in Opheim, Montana. She attended grade school in Grantsdale with her future husband, Charles Franklin (Frank) Treece, and both graduated from Hamilton High School.  Muriel worked at her sister's cafe and as a switchboard operator at the telephone company in Hamilton.

Muriel married Frank on July 1, 1944, while he served in the Army Air Corps. They settled in Hamilton upon his discharge from the service. Their marriage produced two children; James (Jimmy) in 1945, and Jennifer in 1949.  Frank found employment in Sacramento, California and he moved the family there in 1950.

Muriel was contacted by Jehovah's Witnesses in 1953, and began a study of the Bible that lasted the rest of her life. The truths she learned profoundly affected her and she dedicated herself to the service of her God, Jehovah and support of his kingdom.  She died with the hope of a resurrection and of living forever reunited with Frank in a restored paradise on earth under the rule of that kingdom.

Muriel and Frank moved back to Hamilton upon his early retirement in 1972. She worked in housekeeping and he ran the boiler and worked in building maintenance at Marcus Daly Hospital until full retirement.

Muriel was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband who died January 10, 2015; and her sisters Irene Swanson, Beatrice Stahl, Erma Baird, Margurie Cooper, Dorothy Maraglia, Merlin Freier, and Jacqueline Fullerton.   She is survived by her brother Martin Larson Jr.; her son James Treece and wife Sirpa; her and daughter Jennifer Treece; her grandson Geoffrey Treece and wife Meleah; as well as a number of nephews and nieces, including Marty Fullerton who was with her when she died.

Muriel was a strong-minded woman with a good sense of humor. She loved her immediate and extended family and her friends in the Christian Congregation, and she loved life.   She will be missed but we can hope to see her again.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, October 3, 2015, 1 p.m., at the DalyLeach Chapel in Hamilton with a reception to follow.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com
