Sandee Skelton

August 23, 1943 ~ April 27, 2016 (age 72) 72 Years Old

HAMILTON - On April 27th 2016, Sandee Skelton found peace after a long struggle from the effects of a stroke. She was born in Ventura California August 23rd 1942. While attending school at Camarillo High she met Ron Skelton and they married. Moving to Pueblo Colorado they had their 1st son Randy Skelton, and later moving to Hamilton Montana in the late 60’s there 2nd son Jeff was born. Sandee worked as a secretary for Peterson Insurance agency, then became an agent for McLaren, Sen & Peterson Insurance Agency. After Ron and Sandee went in separate directions she met her partner Eric Metcalf. Eric and Sandee spent their summers living on the East Fork of the Bitterroot and Wintered in Florida. Eventually she missed being with her boys and grandchildren and chose to remain in Hamilton permanently.

Sandee enjoyed investigating her family history, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Her first granddaughter Lesley named her “Sassy”, a 3 year olds version of “Sandee” and it stuck. Sandee became Grandma Sassy.  Sassy’s house was nearly a 2nd home for Randee, Sydnee, Scott and Aubree, more of her special grandchildren.

She liked to visit. She and her brother Bob wound spend several hours on the phone or sit up into the wee hours at the lake house cabin “solving the problems of the world”.

She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Earl and Fay Strong; her mother and step-father, Dorothy and Jack Meyerhofer.  Sandee is survived by her sons, Randy Skelton and wife Christi and Jeff Skelton and wife Lori; her brothers, Bob Meyerhofer and wife Jeani and Mel and Donna Strong; her grandchildren, Lesley, Timothy, Randee, Sydnee, Scott, Aubree; and her great-grandchildren from Lesley, Mallachi and Jessamay. Her relatives are extensive and all enjoyed and loved her.

The family would like to say thank you to Pat Herring, Discovery Care Centre, and the Marcus Daly Hospital staff. You gave her support, care, love and made her final years special. Again, thank you.

Private family services will be held.  Sandee held a special place in her heart for our veterans. Her father was a WWII Veteran, Jack Meyerhofer was a civilian trainer for WWII pilots, her brother Bob was a helicopter crew chief in Vietnam and she also lost a close cousin in Vietnam. In lieu of flowers or to do something in memory of Sandee, please go to www.woundedwarriorsproject.org and make a donation in her name to those that have protected all of us.
