We had such a wonderful time with Bill when we visited from New Zealand in 2008. He was incredibly hospitable and generous - inviting us to events, dinner with him and Barb and putting us in touch with other family members. As a couple of young kiwis very far from home this was so greatly appreciated. I was sorting through items today and found a sweet photo of him and Roscoe. Very (belatedly) sorry for your loss.

A number of times I have tried to contact Bill and Barbara, when we have been coming to the States, but with no luck. This may be an odd way to communicate with either Barbara or the girls, but I would love to hear from them. We stayed with them in 1993 and had a wonderful time. Bill nick named me Mrs Kiwi Tours as while they were in NZ we took them all over our patch. So sorry to hear that Bill passed away. Kind Regards Brenda Sutherland

I was indeed blessed to have Uncle Bill in my life. I will miss him so, but there are so many warm memories - the fishing contests, the Oh Hell games, the hot dog roasts, and all the different "festivals". I know he is in Heaven with my mom having a "discussion" about one thing or another - her remembering it one way and he remembering it slightly differently. He touched so many lives and made such a difference in the world. My love and prayers to all the family who are missing him too.

Sending my prayers and love Mrs. Stephani. Mr. Stephani was one of the most "most" men I ever had the privilege to know. He was the most kind, most funny, most honorable, most caring, most edu-tainting person. There's never an eclipse I see that I don't th ink about seeing my first one and learning about it from him. He and you are always in the back of my mind whenever I vote. And every Thanksgiving I think of you both as I remember the "feast" we made in first grade. My heart is so saddened by the loss of him in the world. But I know he's somewhere teaching someone some incredible lesson. I love you both; you both hold such huge places in my formative years and memories. Rest in peace Mr. Stephani.

I met Mr. Stephani when I was very young up at our cabins. I was always running around getting into things, and he welcomed it. He was always ready to hear about whatever was happening in my life, to teach me a new card game, or go fishing. But one thing he did for me every year was put up a swing behind his cabin for me to play on. He made it taller as I grew, and the first time he saw me every year he would ask if I had been on the swing yet. Even as Mr. Stephani's memory went away, he always remembered the swing and to ask me if I had used it yet.. When I went up to the cabin this year I went on the swing. I will continue to use it for years to come and remember what a great man Bill Stephani was.

Dear Barbara & Family,
I am so sorry to read about Bill's death. We are sending our condolences from Hawaii, but you will hear from me when we arrive home next week. Please know you will be in our prayers.
I have many fond memories of the
Stephani Family. My kids still talk about taking music lessons and while Terry was waiting for his turn, Bill made chocolate cookies with him. We were always welcome at your home. Bill came to my class and did wonderful presentations on the countries you visited. He always had slides and articles to share with my students. Every year while I was planning a field trip for my students to the Bison Roundup, Bill came and gave a wonderful presentation on what we would see there. He taught us all about the Bison Range. He was an excellent teacher and had a wonderful way with the students. They appreciated his wit and humor.
We also admire you, Barbara, and your family. You all have devoted your lives to making the world a better place. The Stephani Family is made of heroes.
I getting a memorial for Bill from the Poverello Homeless Center in Missoula. You should receive a card from them. You will hear from me when I get home

Bi.ll and the Stephani brothers and sisters were childhood friends of Pete and me growing up on the west side of the valley and attending Corvallis Schools. All of us admired Bill's keen intelligence and humility. Thanks to Bill for his distinguished career in the Marine Corps serving our country and the many sacrifices he and his family made for the USA. Our many prayers are with Barbara and the family.

My Uncle Bill will be sorely missed! He taught us to play Old Hell and stumped us with his "pants on the line" puzzle. He tried to teach me to fish, but I was not a good student! I'll always remember one Thanksgiving we had with Bill when he was stationed in California. He told us kids that the roast was Buffalo meat that he and Daniel Boone had hunted that morning. None of us kids would eat the meat - boy was he in trouble! I know he's in heaven setting up the happy hour while chatting with his father and waiting for my mother to finish making cinnamon rolls for them!
