Adina K. (Kusler) Chaney

Hamilton - Adina K. Chaney, of Hamilton, passed away at the age of 105 on Monday, July 4, 2016 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Rick Ingraham.  

Adina was born August 25, 1910, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Kusler in Fredonia, North Dakota.  She married Frank P. Chaney in February 1944 in Blackfoot, Idaho. They made their home on a ranch near Challis, Idaho, and in 1949 moved to Montana.  They bought a ranch west of Victor, Montana, in partnership with step-son Clifford Chaney and brother-in-law James Chaney.

After retiring from the ranch, Adina and her husband moved into Victor and Adina took the job of head cook for the Victor School District.  She worked there for 13 years.  She enjoyed working with the students, teachers, and especially with her co-workers, Sophie Olsen and Frances Andrews.  She was a member of the Victor Federated Church and served as a deaconess for a time.  She enjoyed many close friendships at the Victor Senior Citizens Center.  After retiring, she continued with her hobbies of traveling, gardening, crocheting, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Adina was preceded in death by her husband Frank; step-son, Clifford; parents, Henry and Elizabeth Kusler; sisters, Ella and Esther; brother, Henry; son-in-law, Larry Phelps, and a host of other family members and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Rick) Ingraham of Hamilton, Montana, and Margaret Phelps of Pocatello, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Lorine Chaney of Maricopa, California; grand-children, Kathryn (Don) Shinn of Maricopa, California; John (Kathryn) Chaney of Portland, Oregon, Virginia Thomas of Santa Clarita, California, Frank Chaney of Victor, Montana, Rebecca (Jim) Larson of Yuma, Arizona, Jennifer (Brian) Tully of Lockwood, California, Jon (Amber) Ingraham of Salinas, California and Christina (Brian) Chee of Haymarket, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews.

         Funeral services will be held at the Daly-Leach Chapel, 1010 West Main Street, Hamilton, Montana, at 11a.m. on Monday, July 11th.  The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will in the Victor Cemetery in Victor Montana.
